President Mike Cuchna opened the meeting.  Following the opening, introduction of guests and announcements were made.

Bob Casey received his Paul Harris Fellow + 3 pin today.

We inducted three new members into Merced Sunrise - Holly Moyes, Robert Garcia, and Mike Bell.  Dr. Holly Moyes is an Associate Dean, School of Social Sciences Humanities and Arts at UC Merced.  She follows in her father footsteps as a Rotarian.  Robert Garcia is a Volunteer Specialist/Community Organizer for the Valley Crisis Center.  Robert is a past president of the Merced Breakfast Lions and continues to stay involved with the Lions Club.  Mike Bell is General Manager/ Funeral Director for Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home.  He recently moved from Bloomington, IL where he has been a  Bloomington-Normal Sunrise Rotary for the past 12 years.

Donald Barclay, Mike Cuchna and Charlene Armstrong presented their "Who Am I?"  Donald had us roaring with his family's background from Corleone, Sicily.  What adventures he had in school and as a wildland firefighter in his youth before he settled down as a University librarian and author.    

​

Mike provided insight into adventures from his youth - exploring mines in Nortonville and Summersville, as well as mines and caves outside Columbia, CA.  He works hard to pass along science lessons to his grandkids. 

​

Charlene spoke about her upbringing and the struggles she overcame from those experiences.  She believes in giving back and works diligently in many local organizations to do just that.
