Vocational Inspiration:

Gina shared with us three individuals who have inspired her. In the 1980's it was Betsy Donovan, in the 1990's Major General Mary Kight and in the 2000's Joan Faul. Two of three known locally by many!  Gina provided an inspiring quote - "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard."

Program – Rich Miller inducted Pat Lunney.  Pat spoke about two programs that currently fight crime in our community. One ongoing - Crime Stoppers and one currently being developed - VIPER (Violence Interruption/Prevention Emergency Response).

Crime Stoppers allows individuals to anonymously provide the police department with information regarding a crime via phone, text, or e mail.  If the information leads to an arrest, the individual is eligible for a reward. Their budget is $11K, derived from United Way ($4K), service clubs ($2K), and individual donors.

The new VIPER program comes by way of a three year $4.5M grant to help reduce the county homicide rate. Individuals are currently being hired to assist local law enforcement with appropriate analytical information.  It will be a transparent process with the assistance of local residents.
