Paul's Place - Friday, January 27th, 2017, 6:30 am
Bob Casey indicated that we would be doing a non-traditional club assembly as he began the meeting.
Shrimp Feed – Keep selling tickets was the word from Mike A, both Shrimp Feed and Raffle tickets. Additionally, Mike indicated that a SF meeting would be taking place Monday , 30 Jan at Rich Millers. Bring a check for $50 as the member's contribution or a raffle prize with a value in excess of $300.
District Mid-Year Assembly – The Assembly will be taking place on Saturday, 28 January at El Capitan HS from 8-noon. 6 member plan to attend.
Homeless Dinner – The next homeless dinner will be on 1 February at the "D" street shelter.
Giants Game – Tim and SteveB and putting together a trip to SF to see the Giants. More to follow.
New Director - Dortha has found a position in Southern California and Steve Benner has agreed to take her place a s Community Service Director.
– Merced Rescue Mission is moving today!
-- State of the City is taking place today at the Merced Theater, 8:30-10 am.
Program – Bob inducted two new members into the club. Eric Chu and Carla Alessandra Seijas. Carla is a public policy research at UC Merced and Eric is a financial advisor for Band of America Merrill lynch. We welcome both of these individuals into our organization.
A short video was shown - 2016 Rotary Foundation. The video was followed by a number of comments from Frank, our Foundation Chair.

Bob Casey, President, opened the meeting with information from the recent board meeting. The goal is to make us a Paul Harris club. That means we would use accumulated Paul Harris points to make each member a Paul Harris Fellow. Members would then repay the club Paul Harris points as they earn them over time. A second goal is to upgrade the TVs' at Paul's place, specifically three 48" TV's with current connectivity.
Shrimp Feed – Sell tickets was the word from Mike A. Both Shrimp Feed and if not then Raffle tickets. Additionally, Mike asked that each member bring a check for $50 as the member's contribution the smaller raffle prizes.
Speech Contest – The local contest will be scheduled within the next few
weeks followed by area contest by the end of February. Members will be asked to judge students, be ready to put your thinking cap on should you be called upon to judge.
District Mid-Year Assembly – The Assembly will bet taking place on Saturday, 28 January at El Capitan HS from 8-noon. Thus far we have 16 member who plan to attend.
District Conference – We have seven members who will be in attendance in Lake Tahoe, 28-30 April.
Homeless Dinner – Theresa announced that the next homeless dinner will be on 1 February at the "D" street shelter.

– Merced Rescue Mission is moving! The 100 year old building will give way to newer accommodations. Please recognize this is a move only!
– Merced High School Career Day, contact Gina if you are interested in sharing your story with students.
Program – Doug Forte introduced our two speakers from Love Inc. – Annette Macias, Executive Director and Alex Kelly, Clearinghouse Coordinator. They provide our members a summary video of the Clothes for Kids event that was a collaboration between Love Inc. Merced Sunrise and Target held at our local Target store on December 3rd, 2016. We provided clothes for 96 kids (in grades K-12) who had been identified by Love Inc. as kids in families needing assistance. It was a great event and the benefits derived will be well remembered.
