World Water Day Event in Merced
Merced Sunrise Rotary and North Merced Rotary Club partnered together to host an event for their Rotarians, Interact students from El Capitan and Merced High Schools & UC Merced Rotaract members on Saturday, March 19th, to bring awareness to Rotary International’s "World Water Day". Over 60 volunteers gathered at the home of Merced Sunrise Rotarian, Theresa Cesar, to build WAPI Kits (Water Pasteurization Indicators). The three hour event resulted in over 1300 WAPI being assembled, which will be sent to Rotary Clubs in Nicaragua, Mexico and Uganda. The remaining 700 WAPI Kits will be completed on April 2nd, when several student groups from UC Merced return to her home on "Bobcat Attack Day", which is a day that requires the students from the university to go out into the community to perform Community Service projects. Pictured are members from Rotaract, each Rotary club and both Interact clubs.
